Plainly stated,
as responsible breeders, here at KITNZLUV, we
choose to spay or neuter all Pet Quality Kitnz and
Retired Katz before they are placed with new
owners/parents as a means of birth control,
to prevent unwanted and unplanned for kitnz,
from being born and then deposited at the side of the road or
taken to animal shelters where they most likely
will have to be put to sleep.
Neutering
and spaying, of a kitn or kat, is necessary to
preserve the health of that species and to
eliminate "spraying" or marking their territory
with urine.
Intact male cats
are compelled by physiological changes to mate.
Forcing them not to mate causes them undue stress
and discomfort. The eggs of an intact female cat,
that is not permitted to mate, and therefore
cannot ovulate, become encysted in her ovaries,
which may lead to cancerous tumors.
When a kitn or
kat is altered, the surgery is done by a Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine, in the sterile environment of
the Operating Room of an Animal Hospital. We then
allow the kitn or
kat adequate time to recover. And when it has
completely recovered, the Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine will examines the kitn or
kat; a Health Certificate will be prepared by the Animal Hospital, and signed by the
examining Doctor. This Health Certificate will be
included in the KITNZLUV New Kitty Package that
goes home with the kitn or kat.
KITNZLUV
arranges to have it done, so that the new parent
doesn't have to schedule the surgery, and then
have to take the kitn or kat to the Animal
Hospital, and finally, worry about it during
recovery, not to mention having to pay out
after-the-purchase-cash.
KITNZLUV offers for adoption to caring, loving
families and homes,
“A Complete Pet Kitn
or Kat”
that will require a minimal amount
of medical care and related expense, for a long,
long time.
Early
Age Spay and Neuter Of the Kitten:
Early
age altering usually refers to spays and neuters
done between the ages of 8 and 16 weeks instead of
the conventional 5-7 months. While it may seem
that interest in early age altering is a recent
phenomenon, it has not only been talked about, but
it has been practiced for many years in North
America. It is also a practice employed by farmers
and ranchers, to raise a better grade of pork,
beef, mutton and in some case, even poultry are
surgically caponized (not spayed or neutered) at
an early age, all . . . for our dinner table.
Animal shelters have, in recent years, focused on
early age altering of pets offered for adoption,
as have responsible breeders of pet quality
animals, before adoption. Early age altering is
proposed as a more reliable means of preventing
shelter pets from reproducing after adoption.
Surgical sterilization (or altering) is recognized
as the most common and effective means of
preventing the birth of unwanted dogs and katz.
Studies
show that, despite contractual agreements and
economic incentives, many katz and dogs adopted
from breeders or shelters have one litter before
they are sterilized. Owner compliance with
sterilization programs is often under 50%, despite
screening of adoptive homes, prepayment of or
discounted surgery fees, and seller/buyer
agreements/contracts requiring altering. In turn,
about 1/3 of cats and dogs are relinquished at
shelters because they are from an “accidental”
or unplanned litter.
As
responsible breeders of kitnz and katz, KITNZLUV
cattery does all that is worldly possible to
preclude or prevent the “accidental” or
unplanned litter, and ultimately, the unwanted
kittens. KITNZLUV cattery also eliminates
trips to the animal clinic, the angst and anxiety
of the recovery after surgery, and the
after-the-purchase, out-of-pocket-cash-expense,
for the purchaser of a kitn or kat.
